Journeying amidst the old courtyards of Rajasthan, the theme based ‘private rooms’ that spread across the two storeyed stand-alone bungalow come together to celebrate craftsmanship through hand-carved columns, impeccably detailed railings and hand-cut mirrored ceilings, honouring the philosophies of wabi-sabi through a juxtaposition of perfect imperfection.

An extension to Shah’s design practice, he opened his very own atelier in 2017 which amalgamates experimentation, craftsmanship and technique into a creative ecosystem for collaboration and development. For Shah, transitioning from interior to product design was a natural progression, propelled by years of designing custom furniture pieces for his esteemed clientele. Gravitating towards geometry, materiality and his simple Wabi-Sabi aesthetic, Atelier is a composition of inventiveness, tapped by artists, coming together to narrate tales of evolving aesthetics.

Furthermore, amid a global pandemic that has brought the entire world to a standstill, Ashiesh wanted to create a formalised body of change amongst designers and  has been able to conceptualise and collaborate to launch The India Design Fund (TIDF), an oasis through the trying coronavirus pandemic in early May, 2020. The Fund brings together powerful voices from within the industry committed to support, advocate and collaborate for the transformation of lives, livelihood in design –  collaborating for the improvement of life and safety standards and to nurture indigenous design and craftsmanship in the wake of an anti-globalization wave.
